Loctite vs Traditional Fastening Methods

Why threadlockers exist

Vibration loosens conventional fasteners over time. Threadlockers cure anaerobically inside the joint, locking the assembly against rotation.

Choosing a Loctite grade

Loctite 243 (medium strength) suits most reusable assemblies; 270 (high strength) suits permanent fixings; 638 retains cylindrical assemblies.

When mechanical locking still wins

For very large bolts or where complete disassembly is frequent, a serrated washer or castellated nut may still be the right answer.
