How to Choose the Right Industrial Tape
A practical guide to surface bonding, VHB and choosing tape by application.

Why tape over mechanical fixing?
Modern foam tapes distribute load across the bond line, eliminate stress concentration and remove a finishing operation from the production line.
Surface energy and primers
Low-energy substrates such as polypropylene require a primer (e.g. 3M Primer 94) to achieve reliable adhesion.
Selecting the right tape
Match tape thickness to expected differential expansion, and choose modified acrylic or VHB foam for outdoor applications.
Applying for best results
Clean with IPA, apply at room temperature, and use firm pressure to wet out the adhesive against the substrate.
